We sold 420 (42 bags of ten) Ice Follies Narcissus bulbs, and handed out fact sheets about how to plant daffodils, details about Ice Follies, Brent and Becky’s and John Scheepers catalogues and tips on keeping daffodils blooming year to year. Our resident daffodil expert, club member Dianne Leahy,  provided the materials and background research for our table display this year.

Some interesting facts about Ice Follies:

 

• -It is the second most numerous daffodil, (the first is King Alfred, the large trumpet golden daffodil) and one of the most widely planted in landscape plantings
• -It has creamy white petals and a very broad “wide-open”, sunny cup that matures to almost pure white
• -It is a long-term perennial and good forcer; 16”-18”, blooms early-midseason

 

 

Daffodils are excellent rodent repelling perennials.
