Annual Student Scholarship

The Club annually awards one $4000 or two $2000 scholarships to a public high school student who resides in Acton. The candidates must display academic excellence and intend to pursue a career in Environmental related studies, i.e., Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Conservation, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Climate Control or other related disciplines.

Andrew Wu from AB High School is the recipient of this year’s scholarship. Andrew will be attending Cornell. The committee was impressed with all that Andrew has accomplished while in high school. Andrew pursued his interest in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science as a member of the Science Research Team and the Science Olympiad. Outside of his AB classes, Andrew did college level research in several areas, including studying air pollution in Cuba via satellite. His research conducted via the Innobridge Institute resulted in his work being published in an IEEE conference in D.C. Andrew also participated in prestigious Massachusetts Science Fairs, often winning first place for his work. His goal is to improve humanity and the environment through engineering. The committee felt that Andrew has already made important contributions to the environment and humanity and that he will probably be a leader in the field in the future.
